Adamson House Tour

Description: Please join us for a tour of the historic Adamson House in Malibu, a National Historic Site and California Historical Landmark. The Spanish Colonial Revival Style home was built in 1929 by Rhoda Rindge Adamson and her husband Merritt Adamson. It features Spanish and Moorish influences and superb craftsmanship, including hand carved doors, molded ceilings, hand painted frescoes, cast ironwork and lead-framed bottle glass windows. The Adamson House is especially renowned for its extensive and stunning collection of tile produced by Malibu Potteries, which operated nearby between 1926-32 and is regarded as producing some of the finest decorative ceramic art of the era. After the tour you can visit the gift shop as well as the adjoining Malibu Lagoon Museum, which offers an in-depth history of Malibu and its development over the last 150 years. Shortly after the tour, there will be an optional no-host lunch at the nearby Marmalade Café, 3894 Cross Creek Road, Malibu, CA 90265. Parking: A limited amount of free parking is available on the side street just outside the entrance. There is also parking available at the adjacent county beach lot for a fee of $8.
