"Update on the Metropolitan Transit Authority Rail Program and Union Station Master Plan."
Join us for an update on development plans for the Los Angeles County Rail System and historic Union Station. We have arranged for three top executives of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority "MTA" to address our chapter. This program is an update of our April 17, 2013 program. Following the program an executive will give us a tour of historic Union Station for those interested. SPEAKERS; David Mieger, AICP Executive Officer, Transit Corridor Planning, will discuss MTA’s rail program. Mr. Mieger has been involved in the planning of the Green Line, Red Line, Orange Line and LRT. He is currently serving as lead planner for the Metro Purple Line subway extension, including stations in Beverly Hills, Century City, and Westwood. Jenna Hornstock, Deputy Executive Officer in Metro's Countrywide Planning and Development Department will discuss Metro's joint development and parking programs. Ms. Hornstock is in charge of the development and implementation of the Union Station Master Plan. Elizabeth Carvajal, Transporation Planning Manager, will discuss the day to day implementation of the Union Station master plan. She has extensive experience in redevelopment, urban planning and project management. Mr. Kenneth Pratt is in charge of tours of Union Station and will lead us in a 45 minute tour after the formal program. PARKING: available in the Metro building garage for a fee of $6.00. Understanding and Using Comparable Transactions
A seminar designed for both residential and commercial real estate appraisers. It focuses on land, residential and commercial comparable's. A 7 hour seminar with 132 page student manual, Power Point presentation, lecture and Q&A sessions. A lunch and breaks are included. TAF Cap approval is available for all fifty states. Continuing education credits are available to members of Appraisal Foundation sponsors. The seminar is based on the Appraisal Practices Board’s Valuation Advisory #4: Identifying Comparable Properties – Revised.

IRS Case Valuation Workshop
This year’s dynamic IRS event will be a hands-on workshop for appraisers of all disciplines and other tax and legal professionals. Learn how to overcome real valuation obstacles and how to make your work understood and accepted. What happens when the IRS looks at your work? Learn about new regulations and changes from the IRS. We will work through six case scenarios from real IRS taxpayer cases LA-ASA has hosted IRS Symposia since 2005. These Symposia are about what IRS sees as important. They have enabled appraisers and other tax practitioners to tune up their valuations so their chance of avoiding challenge is greatly enhanced. The scope of IRS valuation issues is multidisciplinary, so it is fitting that this Workshop is hosted by the only truly multidisciplinary appraisal organization.
