Advanced Photography for Personal Property Appraiser
This 4-hour, hands-on workshop with professional photographer Kevin Young, will instruct attendees in how to overcome difficult lighting situations such as dim lighting, mixed color temperatures (tungsten, fluorescence, natural daylight, L.E.D.), and strong reflections in order to achieve excellent color and tonal representation of your subject. This course is an expansion on and implementation of the course “Photography for Personal Property Appraisers” offered through ASA-San Diego and Outside the Lens in the Spring of 2014. In addition to learning how to set a custom white balance for their specific camera, attendees will practice shooting in challenging scenarios encountered in real world situations such as photographing framed artwork under glass or plexiglass. In addition, attendees will learn how to import their images into color management software to achieve an advanced level of color representation.

Common Sense Solar
Joint the American Society of Appraisers and the Appraisal Institute as they present a panel discussion on how solar panels have come of age and the methods that can be utilized in their valuation. The panelists will be: 1. Jordan Cohen, Regional Manager for A1 Solar, a solar panel installation contractor who has been in the business for thirty years. 2. James Finlay MRICS, Certified General Appraiser of thirty years whose specialty has been energy efficient and high performance residences and commercial buildings. 3. Steven Davis ASA MRICS, Certified Residential Appraiser who has been working with the solar panel industry for the past fifteen years both as an appraiser and development consultant. Understanding and Using Comparable Transactions
A seminar designed for both residential and commercial real estate appraisers. It focuses on land, residential and commercial comparable's. A 7 hour seminar with 132 page student manual, Power Point presentation, lecture and Q&A sessions. A lunch and breaks are included. TAF Cap approval is available for all fifty states. Continuing education credits are available to members of Appraisal Foundation sponsors. The seminar is based on the Appraisal Practices Board’s Valuation Advisory #4: Identifying Comparable Properties – Revised.

IRS Case Valuation Workshop
This year’s dynamic IRS event will be a hands-on workshop for appraisers of all disciplines and other tax and legal professionals. Learn how to overcome real valuation obstacles and how to make your work understood and accepted. What happens when the IRS looks at your work? Learn about new regulations and changes from the IRS. We will work through six case scenarios from real IRS taxpayer cases LA-ASA has hosted IRS Symposia since 2005. These Symposia are about what IRS sees as important. They have enabled appraisers and other tax practitioners to tune up their valuations so their chance of avoiding challenge is greatly enhanced. The scope of IRS valuation issues is multidisciplinary, so it is fitting that this Workshop is hosted by the only truly multidisciplinary appraisal organization.
